Gabriel

Gabriel Salazar Vergara, a Chilean historian was born 31 January 1936. The country is famous for his research in sociology as well as his analysis of political movements. He was particularly prominent in the student protests of between 2011-12 and the year in the protests of 2006. Salazar was born into an extremely poor family. Salazar attended Universidad de Chile and studied the fields of sociology, philosophy and historical studies. In addition, he was an assistant for Mario Gongora and Hector Herrera Cajas the classic historian. Salazar was one of the Revolutionary Left Movement member from 1973 to 1973. Military tortured him at Villa Grimaldi during that year. [2] Having been released from a prison camp for military in the year 1976, he was sent into exile to the United Kingdom. Here he was granted a scholarship that allowed him to further study at University of Hull. In 1984, he earned an honorary PhD from the University of Hull within Economic and Social History. Then he returned to Chile the following year. Salazar was able to make a breakthrough 1985. His work is largely unknown. He studied peons in addition to working class and proletarians. Salazar is the founder of Nueva Historia Social which is a historical current. Salazar believes that history is an instrument to encourage democratic action.
