Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine was born in Ottawa, Canada, on June 1, 1974. Alanis' Greek name is an empathetic version of her father's last name, Alan. Georgia is the name of her mother and she shares two brothers: Chad and Wade. She was able to play piano when she was just 6 and then took up guitar at age 21. In 1986, Alanis created a song titled Fate Stay With Me (b-side: Find The Right Man). To be specific, during her time in Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop records: Alanis (in the year 1991) and now Is The Time in 1992. Her move to Toronto in the year 18, and began working alongside writers and musicians, however the collaborations didn't work. Then, in 1994, she discovered the perfect partner in the producer and songwriter Glen Ballard, who had already worked with many musicians, such as Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand. After that, she relocated to LA at age 19. Madonna's Maverick Records released the song "Jagged Little Pill" on June 13th in 1995. Alanis' songs are autobiographical. JLP had sold over 30 million copies across the globe and is the most-sold female-oriented album ever. It is also the third most popular album of all time.
